Hi, I'm Gemma Lambert and we're at Stockton Riverside college with Naio UK, We're going to be doing some step-by-step tutorials on how to do nails. First one we're going to do is a bridal stiletto sculptured. Always remember when you're using forms to apply the extra bit onto the back of the form to give it extra strength. Give the form a little roll in your thumbs to make sure you've got a roll in there. This nail's has already prepped and primed an we're ready to go. When doing stiletto forms, make sure that the form is slightly raised so that the nail comes out slightly bent instead of flat. I'm just going to apply dehydrator to the natural nail only. We're going to start by making a base to stick the netting to. We're going to do that by using clear acrylic. The most important part about a sculptured nail is those side walls so make sure you keep pushing them back up. This nail's now ready to pinch. Because it's a stiletto we're going to pinch in two different ways: we're going to use your tool for pinching and also your fingers for a really tight pinch on the end. You need to pinch stilettos when the acrylic's still slightly soft so that you get a really tight pinch. Just press your fingers down the stiletto and pinch together. We're now going to apply a really thin wet layer of acrylic and then press the lace into it. We're going to use a small amount of cover pink on the nail bed area just to blend up to that lace. We're then going to cap the whole design in clear acrylic. The reason we're using clear and not pink is we want this nail to look more like glass. Once the acrylic's slightly set we're going to pinch the nail again to make sure that it's not expanded. It's now time to take the form off. Always remember to take the form down and not up in case you hurt the hyponychium. We're going to cut away that excess lace now. This nail's now ready for filing. Now the nail's filed we're going to buff the nail to a smooth finish, this way we can put some free-hand nail art on top. The nail's now been dusted, so we can move onto our one-stroke flowers. We're going to be using three different colours: white, pink and green. You're going to double-dip your brush so that you've got two colours on there and then blend them together using your own skin. Using short, tapping motions, curve your brush round to create your petals and also bring them up to a point, We're going to do the same movement to create the leaves. Because this nail's a bridal nail, we're going to outline the flowers and the leaves with white to bring in the bridal theme.
We've done a few swirls and buds with the white to give it extra detail. We're finishing off with some little pink dots in the centre of the flowers and some white dots on the leaves. This nail is now ready for gel top coat. Pop the client into the lamp for two minutes. We're going to finish off with a bit of cuticle oil. Because it's a glass design, make sure you put cuticle oil behind the nail as well to give it that extra shine. [Read less]
