The nail bed has been elongated using a cover pink and the free edge has a red to black gradient, It's been finished off with some free hand painted netting.
In this video, we're going to do a burlesque themed nail.
We're going to use red and black and we're going to extent the nail bed slightly. This nail has already been prepped and it's already got it's form applied. So if you need to refresh yourself on that, take a look at those now. We're going to start by extending the nail bed using a cover pink. Remember when your using your cover pink to take the liquid out of the back of the bead so that it stays a nice solid colour. Place it on the nail in a reverse method, so that when you press it down you can blend down into the clients natural nail a lot easier. Then your going to work from the smile line from the normal side. The next bead of cover pink your not going to take the liquid out, that way this bead will blend into the bead that you've already applied and down into the cuticle area without any lines. And again just tidy up that smile line. Let that set for a minute, so that your black doesn't start bleeding into it because that's the next bead we're going to work with. The next bead we're going to pick up is the black, again take the liquid out of the back and create your smile line using the black. Use the tip of your brush just to feather that black up, so that when we put the red on it'll blend into it. Remember when your doing any form of sculpting to keep checking those sidewalls. The next bead we're going to pick up is red, and again where going to take the liquid out of the back, because we want these colour to stay nice and strong. Turn your brush round and blend over the black, just using the tip of your brush to do this. tip of your brush to blend towards you and belly of your brush to press it down. We're going to leave the end of this nail clear because we're going to do some hand painting on to of it at the end. We're going to cap the whole of this nail in pink and also create the rest of our free edge. Keep pressing those sidewalls up with the side of your brush. We're also going to place pink acrylic down near the cuticle area to give that cover pink extra strength. And a little bit of extra pink on the stress point to make sure that this nail stays nice and strong. We're going to let this nail set a little bit now and the we're going to give it a pinch.
Place your pinching tool on and just hold it there for a bit, then your going to use your fingers to pinch the rest of this nail. almost as if your folding it together. Place your pinching tool back on and let that nail set. That nail is now set so we can take the pinching tool off and release the form. Release the form from underneath and then make sure you take it down.
We're going to file this nail now. Remember with stilettos to keep the sidewalls nice and straight. Nice and gentle around the cuticle area just let the file do the work, don't put too much pressure on. Keep checking your side angles to see where your stress point is. We're going to finish this nail with a little bit of hand painting so we need to make sure the surface is nice and smooth, we're going to use a white block to smooth it down. Get rid of your dust and again don't forget to go underneath.
We're going to use a little black paint just to add a netting detail to the tip of the nail so a nice fine detail brush and a small amount of black paint, your coming from one side of the nail, nice and wiggly and crossing down. Let that paint set, then we're going to apply some gel top coat to finish it off. That nail has now been on the lamp for minutes and is set, so we're just going to finish it off with a little bit of cuticle oil and massage it in. Don't forget to go underneath when you've got a clear bit in your nail.
